About Still

Built to make a little room.

Still is a quiet place to read scripture and other source-linked passages, one passage at a time, with room to sit with it.

Steven Pajewski · Built Still

I’m Steven. I’m not a pastor, a scholar, or a faith leader.

But I am still faithful.

Growing up

I was baptized and raised Roman Catholic, with Bible school on Wednesday evenings and service on Sundays, until as a teenager I started to feel the world was bigger than what I’d been taught. How could people preach faith, forgiveness, and loving thy neighbor, and still show so much hate for one another? I never disavowed faith. I just didn’t have a designated one.

At 20

At 20, a friend at work was mocked over his faith. I didn’t even understand the joke, so I asked him about it. Ramadan was beginning, and he told me to try it if I wanted to understand. So I did. I fasted. I read a chapter of the Qur’an every day, ate halal, and gave time to a food bank whenever I slipped.

The first month

The first two weeks were the hardest mental pilgrimage I’d ever been on. Then something shifted. By weeks three and four the hunger had gone quiet, the lessons were resonating, and so much of what I was reading overlapped with what I’d learned as a kid. I came out inspired, awestruck, and honestly even more confused than when I started.

Every year since

I’ve read the Qur’an and practiced Ramadan every year since. I don’t consider myself Muslim, Christian, or Roman Catholic. I practice the morals; I don’t cheer for a single team. I don’t think any of us can fully grasp what’s beyond us. The stories and themes resonate regardless of the scripture. What changes is how they’re packaged.

Mysterious, isn’t it?

The app, and the AI inside it

Still

What it is

Still is the quiet place Steven built to sit with these texts. It finds passages, talks things through with you, and drafts the reflections you read here.

Where AI comes in

That part is AI, powered by OpenAI and shaped by a voice Steven wrote down. Still drafts each reflection and publishes it on its own, so Steven doesn’t read every one first. It has no faith or life experience of its own, and it doesn’t speak for God.

What it never does

It never writes Scripture. The source text always comes from a published edition, and it’s always a tap away.

How it works

Source first

A small source-linked library, not a complete Bible, Tanakh or Quran. No institutional or theological approval is claimed. Exact quotations come from named editions in the bundled library, and they are never presented as words spoken by a source author.

How reflections are written

Curious, plainspoken and unhurried. We start with the words on the page, say what we notice, and leave you room to disagree.

About our creative process

Reflections are drafted with AI, checked automatically and published without review of each piece. Any of them can be taken down at once.

We use AI assistance for editorial drafts and decorative artwork. Source quotations are preserved from the named editions. Artwork is illustrative, not documentary.

  • Read closely. Keep the passage and what surrounds it within reach.
  • Speak plainly. One concrete detail does more than a big claim.
  • Offer, don't instruct. A reading is a possible reading, and a practice is optional.
  • Respect difference. Name the tradition and the edition, and keep what the text says apart from what we think it means.

Your reading stays yours

The web reader needs no account. Preferences and saved readings remain in browser storage, unencrypted and not synced. No analytics service is active. Hosts can receive request metadata, and linked sources have their own privacy policies.
